Frequently asked questions

  1. Do you take insurance?

    ?

I don't bill insurance, but you can pay for your appointments with your Health Savings Account card if you have one. Payment methods include card, cash, check, and Venmo. I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
  2. Do I have to gain weight?

    ?

My goal is to help you find a balance with food--I help you to reduce under/overeating habits while including a variety of foods to meet your nutritional needs. I may recommend the need for weight restoration. I encourage you to focus on balance instead of weight.
  3. Can you help me lose weight?

    ?

I focus on wellness. Many factors determine size--genetics, sleep patterns, exercise, eating habits, metabolic damage, medical conditions, and medications. We can address each of these factors and allow your body to find its natural set point.
  4. What if I can't tell when I'm hungry or full?

    ?

Depression, anxiety, a busy schedule and other factors affect appetite. I can provide guidance toward normalizing your eating and appetite. You may have ignored hunger/fullness cues for so long that it will take time to trust these cues again.
  5. How does nutrition counseling work?

    ?

Treatment is individualized. We address your eating concerns and decide which strategy will be most effective for you. This may involve meal planning or food logs. I provide education to correct faulty beliefs and offer suggestions of how to balance your diet.
  6. Can you help my child lose weight?

    ?

I focus on behavior change for the whole family to reduce the risk of eating disorders and secret eating. I provide recommendations for what responsibilities you have to help your child with food choices. We will not discuss weight in front of the child.
  7. Do I need to bring anything to the first appointment?

    ?

I don't require any food logs for the first appointment. If you have them, feel free to bring them. Otherwise, all that is needed for the first appointment is a method of payment. If you like to take notes, you are welcome to do so during the appointment.
  8. What if I don't want to change?

    ?

Recovery begins with awareness. One of the roles of a dietitian is to support, educate and motivate. You can schedule an appointment even if you don't feel ready to make changes. We can address your fears and concerns in session.
  9. Can I schedule online?

    ?

For now, you can schedule appointments via email, phone call, or text.
  10. Is there a cancellation fee?

    ?

As with many other healthcare offices, appointments cancelled in less than 24 hours are charged in full.
